WHAT SHOULD I WEAR/BRING TO PHYSICAL THERAPY?

When we schedule your first visit we’ll let you know what to wear and what, if anything, to bring with you, but here are our general guidelines: Stretchy, comfortable clothes are always recommended. If your issue involves your neck or back, wear a tank top or sports bra; if it involves the lower body, opt for shorts. For cycling problems, bring your cycling kit and shoes. For running concerns, bring your shoes.

DO I NEED A PRESCRIPTION OR REFERRAL TO GET PHYSICAL THERAPY TREATMENTS?

In California, a licensed physical therapist can evaluate and treat musculoskeletal injuries for a period of 45 days, or 12 visits. If treatment is required beyond that time, a referral and diagnosis is required. Additionally, there are no limitations or time constraints on physical therapy without a referral if you have a diagnosis from your physician, podiatrist, or other qualified diagnostician for your condition.

IS PHYSICAL THERAPY COVERED BY MY INSURANCE?

We are preferred providers for a number of insurance plans including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Healthnet, and UnitedHealthcare.  However, different plans have different benefits for physical therapy—some cover it 100%, others have no physical therapy benefit at all.  Our friendly, knowledgeable staff with work with you before your first visit to determine how much is covered.

HOW LONG ARE TREATMENT SESSIONS?

Your first evaluation is scheduled for one hour, and follow-up visits are usually 40 minutes. Sessions may be longer or a bit shorter depending on the conditions and treatment required.  Your session will always be conducted by your physical therapist—never by an aide or an assistant.

HOW OFTEN WILL I BE COMING IN?

The frequency of your visits will be determined by your physical therapist and approved physician during your initial evaluation, when your care plan is established.  Much depends on your specific needs. While it is very common to have treatments twice a week some clients only require weekly sessions. Others might need to be seen 3-5 times a week.

HOW LONG UNTIL I NOTICE RESULTS?

In most cases you will see some positive results within the first 1-3 sessions. Certain conditions take longer than that, but the majority of our clients feel a distinct difference within a few sessions.

WHAT ARE YOUR HOURS?
